Marketing Executive

Rangoon Tea House, a restaurant in the heart of downtown Yangon, is inspired by tradition and motivated by passion. Our food, our design and our ethos are drawn from the country’s many styles of tea houses. We aim to be the pioneers of modern Burmese cooking & culture. We are looking for a smart, young Marketing Executive to join us.
The role
• Assist the directors to plan, manage and execute marketing, digital marketing, advertising and PR activities;
• Assist the directors to implement promotions and campaigns whether at Rangoon Tea House or through partner events and opportunities;
• Help organize and attend events including working with sponsors, third-party vendors and suppliers;
• Work with third-party agencies and vendors to produce print, AV, digital and other materials, such as advertising, brochures, banners, vouchers, flyers and premiums, ensuring they are on brand and delivered on time;
• Write and/or edit text and materials for print, AV, digital and other materials;
• Keep our web and social digital marketing presence up to date; write and post materials;
• Assist with media relations including handling media enquiries and visits, ensuring staff are aware of any visits; produce media materials; distribute timely media releases to identified target media lists (directly or working with an agency);
• Assist with VIP enquiries and visits, ensuring staff are aware of such visits;
• Build and maintain databases for customers, VIPs, media, third-party suppliers and vendors;
• Monitor and report on clippings on a monthly basis;
• Monitor competitor activity and industry news and notify directors on a time basis; and
• Compile monthly reports for directors.
You will have:
• A background in marketing communications—whether marketing, digital, advertising; public relations or event organization—preferably in restaurants, hotels or similar;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills—fluency in English or Burmese or both;
• Demonstrated an ability to organize;
• Knowledge of Myanmar’s (and the international) media landscape;
• Experience of Wordpress or similar web systems, Facebook; creative software, such as Indesign; and Microsoft Office or similar;
• A pro-active approach—you don’t need to be told what to do every five minutes;
• Experience of working in a team;
• A very keen eye for detail;
• An ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
• An ability to work long hours if needs be—we’re a hospitality business; and
• A love of people, great food and satisfied customers
